Jacek Kugler

Dr. Jacek Kugler is Chief Strategist at ACERTAS. He is also Professor of International Relations and Political Economy at Claremont Graduate University and a co-founder of Sentia Group and the TransResearch Consortium. Through his extensive work over 35 years, Dr. Kugler has forged a worldwide reputation for innovative data driven decision making, advising the UN, IMF, State Department, a number of US governmental agencies and private businesses.

Dr. Kugler’s research, theories and strategic applications are widely credited with explaining peaceful relations among major powers during the cold war, anticipating stability following the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the challenges of globalization, modernization and terrorism today.  His research on political demography discovered the important role played by political control of fertility in rising developing nations and economic growth. Dr. Kugler’s current research focuses on the political costs of economic growth, international governance and sustainability.

Dr. Kugler served as Editor of International Interactions, President of the International Studies Association and President of the Peace Science Society. Prior to Claremont Graduate University, he was a faculty member at Vanderbilt and Boston Universities, Research Scholar at the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University, Project Co-Director at the Center for Political Studies at University of Michigan and Visiting Professor at UCLA.  He received his M.A. and B.A. from UCLA and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
